Garibaldi's Iris concession is strategically located on the Northwest border of AuRico Gold Inc.'s (formerly Gammon Gold Inc.) Ocampo mine (probable gold reserves of 1.4 million oz. and 66 million oz. of silver) and 2 kilometres west of Agnico-Eagle's Pinos Altos deposit (probable gold reserves of 2.5 million oz. and 73 million oz. of silver) which went into production in 2009. Garibaldi acquired Iris based on an ASTER-SWIR satellite image outlining a distinct silica anomaly and the observation that the regional Ocampo caldera rim that bisects Agnico-Eagle's Pinos Altos traverses through the northern portion of Iris.
